iPhone12 and Apple Watch6 reveal that date rumors are a big contradiction

According to a new rumor, the iPhone 12 and Apple Watch 6 will be announced simultaneously in late October.

The source is Japan's MacOtakara (via MacRumors), who claims that the launch event will take place late next month and will feature an upgraded Apple Watch, iPhone, and a new product called AirTags.

These details, which MacOtakara claims to have obtained from Apple's Chinese supply partner, contradict the predictions of another prominent leaker, Jon Prosser. He claims that the Apple Watch will be announced next week in a simple press release along with the new iPad. This is the first time Apple has announced a smartwatch outside of its main fall event since the original Apple Watch in April 2015, and is a major reason why some people are skeptical of this particular rumor.

What is agreed upon is that Apple delayed the reveal of the iPhone 12 beyond normal. Normally, the new smartphone would debut in September, but various issues in the phone's design and production have forced Apple to slightly delay its normal schedule. The company may delay only the pre-order and shipping dates.

The MacOtakara article also focuses on the new Apple AirTags, tracking tags similar to those made by Tile. These were supposed to debut at the same time as the iPhone SE, but suffered unexplained delays.

If you haven't been keeping up with the latest rumors, the launch of Apple's latest device (whenever it appears) is expected to be an exciting one. the iPhone 12 lineup will feature an OLED display and 5G connectivity options throughout, all will be powered by the new A14 chipset. The iPhone 12 Pro models will also add a LiDAR depth sensor to the rear camera array.

As for the Apple Watch 6, it is rumored to add a new case design with an optical sensor in place of the Digital Crown for controls and improved fitness tracking and health monitoring capabilities.
