Do you own a pair of Apple PowerBeats 2 earphones? You may be entitled to some cash; as reported by MacRumors, Apple has agreed to pay a $9.75 million settlement on the lawsuit after being sued over alleged defects in its sports headphones.

According to Cnet, the lawsuit, filed in 2017, alleged that the battery life of the "shoddy" PowerBeats 2 did not meet Apple's 6-hour rating and degraded over time. The lawsuit also alleges that the headphones do not meet IPX4 sweatproof and waterproof ratings.

If you purchased your new Powerbeats 2 earphones before August 7, 2020, you can request payment online from now until November 20, 2020.It is unclear exactly how much Powerbeats 2 owners will receive, but $9.75 million is the required fee will be split among all class members after the required fees have been paid.

Note that customers will only receive payment if the proposed settlement is approved by the Superior Court of Santa Clara County, California; a fairness hearing will be held on January 15, 2021 to determine the next steps.

Our review of the Powerbeats 2 found that Apple's wireless earphones were comfortable and provided solid bass, but were shunned by their high price and disappointing battery life. And according to this settlement, it seems we were not alone.
