Forget Galaxy Z Fold 2: LG wing leak reveals swing-out second display

The most daring cell phone design in the past 18 months has been the foldable phone, but the LG Wing looks to shake things up with a literal twist on the dual display.

In a new video obtained by Android Authority, we get our first live look at the LG Wing and how the second screen will be used. The use cases are intriguing and the Wing should be much more affordable than the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, which is expected to cost $2,000.

The LG Wing is said to feature a large 6.8-inch main display and a 4-inch second screen. This panel will reportedly pop out from the phone's body in a twisting motion.

The video shows a person driving with the LG Wing on the dashboard. A GPS navigation app is running on the main display, and a music app is running on the second screen. This could be a convenient way to multitask, as most people will likely be listening to music on their car stereo.

When a call comes in, a notification pops up on the second display and you tap to answer the call. The best part of this scenario is that the navigation screen is not interrupted.

There are many other possible uses for the LG Wing's secondary display, from gaming to giving photographers and videographers more control while providing a larger live preview.

As for specs, the LG Wing is rumored to be powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 765G processor, which should at least support 5G. It is also possible that LG will announce this bold endeavor at IFA, where its CTO is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech on September 3,

although no release date has been set.
