Samsung's next flagship phone can be called Galaxy S21

According to reliable leaker Ice Universe, Samsung's next flagship S-series phone could be named Galaxy S21 instead of Galaxy S30.

We have been considering the possibility of naming the next Galaxy phone for some time now as the rumors surrounding this phone grow. We had settled on "Samsung Galaxy S30," but it appears that "Galaxy S21" may be the correct naming convention.

Ice Universe did not elaborate on where they got this name from, although we often get a variety of information from inside sources. It can also be said that the naming of Samsung's next Galaxy phone is hardly noteworthy.

Leeker also mentions "Project U," a possible codename for "Unbound," which is believed to be related to the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

However, it could be translated as a statement of intent from Samsung. The Galaxy S20 series chose the name "20" instead of "S11" following the Galaxy S10 series. The step-up in specs, design tweaks, camera upgrades, and even a 120 Hz refresh rate display may have prompted Samsung to adopt a larger number for the name.

Thus, the "Galaxy S21" can be seen as Samsung's intention to create an iterative upgrade of the Galaxy S20 series rather than to introduce a set of phones with a dramatically upgraded feature set.

Of course, this is all wild speculation on our part, as there is not a huge amount of information circulating around the Galaxy S21. From what we've heard so far, it will have an upgraded 108MP main camera, may feature an "Ultra" spec S Pen, and may use the Exynos 1000 chip, which is expected to have powerful graphics courtesy of AMD The S Pen and powerful chipset may signal the end of the Galaxy Note series as Samsung moves to streamline its flagship devices.

Given that Samsung just released the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, we can't expect the Galaxy S21 until at least next February. However, as 2020 draws to a close, it would not be surprising to see more leaks regarding this phone.
