The OnePlus Nord Lite could be on its way to building the Nord smartphone lineup, but it may disappoint when it comes to charging speeds.

A new certification for the OnePlus Nord Lite was spotted by MySmartPrice on the TUV Rheinland website, which manages certifications for various companies. And it was revealed that the next Nord phone will have an 18W fast charger.

This certification suggests that the OnePlus Nord Lite is not far off. When we spoke with OnePlus about the Nord product line, the company said we could expect more Nord phones, so a Lite version would not be that surprising.

But while 18W chargers are now pretty much standard in the boxes of most budget to mid-range phones, super-fast charging is one of OnePlus' calling cards. the OnePlus Nord and flagship OnePlus 8 Pro have 30W Warp Charge 30T charging.

It seems a bit odd, therefore, that the Nord Lite does not have the key features of recent OnePlus phones. OnePlus is expected to cut some corners to keep the price of the so-called Nord Lite down, but one would expect them to opt for a lower-end Snapdragon 690 chip or reduce the number of rear-facing cameras; they are not likely to abandon the Warp Charge 30T; they are likely to use a newer, more powerful Snapdragon 690 chip or reduce the number of rear-facing cameras.

To be cynical, the Nord Lite supports the Warp Charge 30T, but could be bundled with an 18W charger. However, while Apple often uses such a move, it would not be in keeping with the OnePlus brand.

Other leaks suggest that the OnePlus Nord Lite will have 6GB of RAM, rather than the 8GB or 12GB of its more powerful sibling; dropping the amount of RAM will certainly help OnePlus keep the Nord Lite's price down.

Currently, we don't have much, if any, other information about the Nord Lite, if it indeed exists. However, the new certification suggests that it is real and may appear sooner rather than later.
