Stunning iPhone12 video shows off the second screen we really want

The official unveiling of the iPhone 12 is just around the corner. We have a pretty good idea of what the new iPhone will look like, but it's always fun to daydream. We have been exploring the various designs that Apple might pursue for the next iPhone. They are very clever and nuanced, and some are actually quite believable.

The latest video to join the legion of cool and inventive concepts throws everything you might expect out the window to add a really nice twist to what we think we know about cameras and displays YouTuber Furkan Kasap has come up with a totally futuristic iPhone 12 concept that is clearly different from the fan-made iPhone 12 "trailers" we've seen so far.

The video is only about a minute long, but he uses every second of it to show us what would happen if Apple decided to shatter our current perception of the phone. When the clip begins by zooming in on the phone, the spotlight is not on the front of the device, but on the back, where the camera array is expected to be located. There is a series of cameras there, but also a sort of secondary display that covers them.

The display appears to be modular, mimicking what can be seen on the Apple Watch, and is divided into four quadrants, with one area showing music streaming services, another showing the time, and finally the entire display, depending on user preferences The system can be configured to display different parts of the screen, such as showing alerts and the time.

Much like the Smart Stack widget that Apple will introduce as part of iOS 14 this fall, this look would be ideal for displaying instant notifications in a smaller area rather than on the phone's screen.

Speculating about what Apple might have in store for the iPhone 12 is practically a pastime these days, but there is still a lot we don't know. Rumors suggest that there could be four different iPhone 12 models, all with OLED screens and 5G connectivity. iPhone 12 Pro models will have an additional camera lens (LiDAR sensor) along with a screen that supports faster refresh rates ) is likely to be added.

One thing we won't see in the iPhone 12 is a secondary display, as seen in this concept video. Still, it's fun to think about what might happen if Apple were to go down the path that Cassap describes here.
