Microsoft's Surface Duo appears to be imminent based on recent leaks, but the latest preview of the upcoming dual-screen phone comes from a surprising source.

Hiroshi Lockheimer, Google's senior vice president of Android and Chrome, tweeted a photo of dinner in Japan earlier this week. But if you look a little closer, you'll notice a Surface Duo sitting among the meat and vegetables.

The new photo shows off the same dual-screen design we've been seeing since Microsoft announced the Duo in late 2019, and doesn't necessarily reveal anything new. However, there does appear to be some sort of white protective case covering the foldable phone. [Microsoft's new phone runs Android, and the two companies have likely worked closely together to get Google's OS to work properly on such a unique device. However, this apparent endorsement seems to be a good sign that Google fully supports Microsoft's new two-screen phone and will hopefully support it after its launch. [According to recent leaks, the Surface Duo will feature two 5.6-inch AMOLED 1800 x 1350 displays designed for seamless multitasking; a Snapdragon 855 processor with 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage Possibly not as powerful as the more powerful Snapdragon 865 Plus found in devices such as the Galaxy Note 20, but still capable of delivering a smooth two-screen experience.

Microsoft's new device could be set to launch the week of August 24 according to recent information, meaning that we may only be a few weeks away from an interesting folding showdown between the Duo and Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 2.
