iPhone12 Leak Confirms 9 Month Launch — Here's What to Expect

According to the newly leaked running order of events, iPhone 12 and Apple Watch 6 will be the two major Apple announcements in September.

Details of Apple's next product announcement were leaked by Twitter tipster KomiyaLeaks; Komiya had previously claimed that the event itself would take place either on September 8 or September 22, including the theme of Tim Cook's opening speech, but more specific details are new.

The iPhone 12 series is almost certain to be the star of the show. The series is rumored to include four 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.7-inch models, all with the A14 chipset, main and ultra-wide rear cameras, 5G connectivity, and OLED displays.

Two iPhone 12 Pro models build on this, adding a telephoto camera and LiDAR depth sensor on the back. These versions were rumored to also feature a 120Hz refresh rate display, but recent leaks indicate that this may not happen after all.

Earlier in the sequence, we will see the debut of the Apple Watch 6. The annual update of the Apple smartwatch will be more substantial than in previous years, adding blood oxygen monitoring and mental health tracking and replacing the digital crown with an optical sensor.

What will separate the standard and Pro iPhone 12 models will be the release of AirTags. This is a tracking tag developed by Apple that allows users to attach trackers to find items that have been misplaced or stolen. In addition to the basic functionality, Apple appears to be creating an AR feature that will be part of the "Find My" app to help users find their tags and help others find and return theirs.

This September, Apple's previously canceled wireless charging pad, AirPower, is set to return. Assuming it returns in a form similar to its original format, AirPower will be able to charge iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods charging cases at the same time.

Also on the list are announcements of a new iPad in 2020 and an expansion of Apple Card coverage to more countries. The new iPad could be a refreshed base model or a mid-level iPad Air, according to previous rumors.

Of course, this information does not necessarily reflect the reality of Apple's plans; there are many rumors that shipments of the iPhone 12 will be delayed significantly, and the launch could be as late as October. This would not require Apple to cancel its normal September product releases. However, for fans eager to purchase the newly announced product, it may mean that they may have to wait a month or two to pre-order, rather than the usual one-week gap.
