WhatsApp is already working on making its messaging service available on multiple mobile devices simultaneously. However, new information from WABetaInfo indicates that they are also trying to sync chat history across multiple devices.

WhatsApp is available as a web app and is linked to your phone account, so you can send messages from your laptop as well; updates are underway on the beta version of WhatsApp, and it may soon be possible to use WhatsApp without a phone number connection. WhatsApp may soon be available without having to connect to a phone number.

For some time now, WhatsApp users have been asking for multi-device support. Currently, if you change phones, WhatsApp is only available on the device with the SIM card in it, limiting the usefulness of the application.

However, WhatsApp appears to have listened to its users and is introducing multi-device support for its instant messaging service. The ability to copy chat history to a second device that is not tied to a phone number means that users will be able to have detailed chats with friends on multiple devices at once. This would be quite useful, for example, if the iPhone 11 ran out of battery in the middle of a conversation. That way, instead of waiting for the phone to recharge, they can pick up the iPad Pro and continue chatting.

Speaking of chats, WABetaInfo also found a beta option that would allow users to add custom wallpapers to different chats. The idea is that at a glance you will be able to get a good idea of who you are chatting with without having to peek at their snazzy profile pictures or chat names.

Thus, you can avoid the embarrassment of accidentally sending a message to someone with a similar name to someone you don't intend to send a message to.

Additionally, these backgrounds can be set differently depending on whether you are using WhatsApp's dark or light mode. You can also set the brightness of the backgrounds, effectively customizing the way the backgrounds look in WhatsApp chats.

These features are currently being tested and are not available even to WhatsApp beta users, so they may not be ready for the full release of WhatsApp. However, these useful features are also available to beta users and may not be reflected in the full release of WhatsApp.
