iPhone12 display leak shows Samsung Galaxy Note 20Ultra, it has a beat

According to another leak, none of the upcoming iPhone 12 models will feature a 120Hz refresh rate display and could lose out to Samsung's Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

Ross Young, a DSCC analyst with special insight into the smartphone screen supply chain, again claimed that none of the four iPhone 12 models will feature a 120Hz display.

We had previously expected the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max to feature higher refresh rates, while the standard iPhone 12 and 12 Max would have basic 60hz panels.

However, the fact that none of the iPhone 12 devices will have a 120 Hz refresh rate may be a major disappointment, especially considering that Samsung's Galaxy S20 series from earlier this year has a 120 Hz display. The newly announced Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra also has a 120Hz display and impressive specs, so the iPhone 12 may be cornered even before its launch.

The iPhone 12 announcement is probably less than a month away. And the litany of leaks over the past eight months has given us a pretty strong impression of what Apple's next smartphone will look like, and whether Young's sources are on target or not.

From what we know so far, there will be four iPhone models: the base 5.4-inch iPhone 12, the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max and iPhone 12 Pro, and the iPhone 12 Max Pro with a 6.7-inch display .

With a new design reminiscent of the iPhone 4 of yesteryear, all iPhone 12 devices will feature flat edges that look quite attractive. And we feel that such a design works very well on what appears to be a 5.4-inch iPhone 12.

Speaking of displays, there have been various leaks and rumors about whether the iPhone 12's display notch will be smaller than the previous model. Some have suggested that the notch will be smaller, but other leaked information suggests that it will remain the same. A smaller notch would be greatly welcomed, as it would increase the actual screen space of the iPhone 12 display.

All four models will use Apple's A14 Bionic chip, which promises to outperform the iPhone 11. And the standard iPhone 12 and 12 Max are expected to feature two rear cameras, a slight upgrade over the previous model. The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, on the other hand, will feature three rear cameras complemented by a LiDAR sensor, like the one on the iPad Pro 2020, for improved depth sensing and augmented reality experience.

Thus, the iPhone 12 Pro handset appears to be the one to get if you have money to burn, whereas the standard iPhone 12 will be for those with shallower pockets. The iPhone SE 2020 is also worth checking out, especially if you're on a tight budget.
