Fortnite Car Update: Everything You Need to Know About Joy Ride

Fortnite's Joyride update has finally arrived. The update took place during scheduled maintenance on Wednesday, August 5.

The update took place during scheduled maintenance on Wednesday, August 5; Epic Games was forced to delay the release several times, but it was previously scheduled earlier. The mid-season challenge, which would have required players to "gas up their cars at Cathy Corner," was changed before the release.

The cars range from standard sedans and trucks to special vehicles like the Whiplash and Mudflap.

Fortnite's new sedans and trucks are a new type of beast when compared to previous ground vehicles such as ATVs, hamster balls, and golf carts. Like other vehicles, they cannot perform crazy stunts that ignore physics. Instead, it is a more rugged and straightforward vehicle, similar to the trucks and cars that appear in other battle royales such as Call of Duty: Warzone.

By holding down the Y button, the vehicle can be boarded just like any other vehicle. Most vehicles have enough space for the entire squad. Seats can be switched just like any other vehicle. Unlike other vehicles, cars do not drive well off-road. It could reach 50 MPH when on paved roads, but its speed drops at least 10 MPH when driving on dirt or grass.

The car came with another new feature: gasoline. In order to make a road trip across the map, the car must be filled with gasoline. All cars have gas meters that display in percentages. It tells you when you are low on gas so you can fill up.

Gasoline can be filled up at gas stations scattered throughout the map. When you are in your car, you will see these icons on the map. Simply drive next to the gas station, pick up a pump to fill up with gasoline, place it next to your car and press the right trigger.

Don't worry, like any other vehicle, you can run over and eliminate other players. The car can obliterate a player with a single hit - the game file confirms that a direct hit can do up to 200 damage. Exploding cars also hurt players.
