Season 4 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has come to an end and Season 5 is fast approaching, and Infinity Ward has teased major map changes for Warzone, leaving players with high expectations for the new season. Players are excited to see how Call of Duty handles the first geographical change in Verdansk, as map changes are a regular occurrence in Fortnite and other battle royales.

According to an official tweet from the Call of Duty Twitter account, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5 will begin on August 5.

Call of Duty data mining has uncovered several fragments of weapons included in Season 5, including the M200, R700 sniper rifle, and SPAS-12.

A new operator named Wood, similar to the name of the Black Ops protagonist, has been data-mined by players, who believe that Warzone will bridge the worlds of Modern Warfare and Black Ops starting next season. Also rumored is longtime fan favorite Soap McTavish.

Scrap Yard and High Rise, two well-known maps from previous games, are also rumored to be coming back, as fans have found files that reference both areas.

Various rumors from data mining and Infinity Ward teases suggest that a major map change is coming to Verdansk in the new season. Some reports suggest that Activision is trying to align Warzone with another of Call of Duty's upcoming flagship titles, Black Ops.

For the past few months, players have been scouring for clues, decoding Russian phone calls, and destroying bunkers to make the map look like a Cold War setting until what many believe will be a nuclear explosion. Notable changes to the current map include the opening of a stadium and the addition of a loot train that circles the map similar to that of Apex Legends.

Fans have been expecting some of these changes to come in Season 4 and will have to wait to see what actually happens in August.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5 Battle Pass is expected to be priced similarly to previous seasons: $9.99 (£8.39/15 Australian dollars) or 1,000 COD points. It will likely include 100 unlockable tiers that will give access to COD points to purchase new weapon skins, operators, items, and other cosmetic items. There will also be an option to purchase a bundle (currently available for $19.99) that includes additional COD points and a Battle Pass subscription.
