Microsoft Surface Duo Caught on video - See it in Action Now

It looks like Microsoft's Surface Duo will be available soon. That's because a new video has been released showing Microsoft executives tinkering with the company's foldable device.

Linked to Microsoft's YouTube series "The Shiproom," the somewhat bizarre video examines various companies using Microsoft tools and shows Brad Anderson, the company's president of commercial management experience, using the Surface Duo Brad Anderson, the company's President of Commercial Management Experience, is shown using a Surface Duo. The video suggests that Surface Duo is a tool that supports control of other devices and software

.

In the video, Anderson changes the green screen background on the set of "The Shiproom" entirely through the Surface Duo. It is not clear if Microsoft's "non-telephone" can actually do this.

But it does indicate two things: first, the Surface Duo will likely be tightly integrated with Microsoft's own software and any tools linked to third-party apps that work well with Android and Windows 10 . And second, the Surface Duo is quite ready for release.

Given that the Surface Duo is on the FCC and Bluetooth SIG lists, usually just before a device is ready for release, it seems likely that the Surface Duo will be available very soon. Originally slated for a late 2020 release, the Duo could appear in August or September.

If the Surface Duo does arrive, it will bring a rather unusual dual-screen folding device to the tech world.

The Surface Duo, which is said to feature dual 1800 x 1350 displays, a Snapdragon 855 CPU, and 6GB of RAM, is poised to clash with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 2 in terms of specifications. However, while the latter is a true foldable device with a flexible display, the Surface Duo features two separate screens connected by a slim hinge that allows the device to fold into a series of modes.

Given that it features a heavily modified interface similar to the smartphone version of Windows 10 and works with a slim Surface Pen stylus, the Surface Duo appears to be better equipped for productivity than the Galaxy Z Fold 2 appears to be.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is scheduled to be released on August 5 alongside Samsung's Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Watch 3, and Galaxy Tab S7. So if the Surface Duo makes its appearance in August, it could be a very interesting time to see which foldable device is most appealing.
