Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 Leak reveals New features to fight Apple Watch 6

The fact that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 is on the way is not exactly a secret. But now, thanks to research by XDA Developers, we know exactly what features to expect from the new generation, more than a week before the official announcement.

The source is official: Samsung has released the Galaxy Watch 3 Plugin app. But thanks to Max Weinbach's APK decompilation efforts, some upcoming secrets have been revealed.

First, the Galaxy Watch 3 will support hand gestures. According to Samsung, the watch's sensors are sensitive enough to reliably detect hand movements, which means that you can answer a phone call by clenching or unclenching your fist. On the other hand, if one does not wish to answer the phone, the hand gesture is ignored.

There is also a fall detection feature introduced by rival Apple Watch in its fourth generation. If you fall, the smartwatch will ring for 60 seconds, and if there is no response, it will text your location to an emergency contact with a 5-second audio recording.

Finally, not so dramatically, Samsung has found that users change the way they take screenshots of their watches. To be fair, the previous method - swiping left and pressing a button - was a bit awkward, but it's hard to imagine that taking a screenshot on the Galaxy Watch is a frequent necessity; on the Galaxy Watch 3, simply pressing both side buttons simultaneously takes a screenshot. The Galaxy Watch 3 allows you to take a screenshot by simply pressing both side buttons at the same time. It's much easier to manage, but there are probably a few things you could do by mistake.

With this bonus feature revealed, there is not much left to learn about the Galaxy Watch 3. We already have some good ideas of what it will look like and the colors it will display. Apparently, there are nine different configurations to choose from, starting at $400 and going up to $600.

These features may help the Galaxy Watch 3 compete with the Apple Watch 6, which may be able to monitor blood oxygen levels, with proper sleep tracking set up through watchOS 7.

By the way, if you are wondering what happened to Samsung's Galaxy Watch 2, don't worry. Perhaps Samsung thought that by calling the new model the "Galaxy Watch 2," people would think it was a mildly refreshed version of the Galaxy Watch Active 2. at Samsung's Unpacked event on August 5.
