iPhone12Pro may be hard to find at launch — here's why

Despite the fact that all four iPhone 12 models are supposed to be unveiled at the same time, probably in September, you may find the iPhone 12 Pro difficult to find.

According to display analyst Ross Young, this is because the release of the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will be delayed. The analyst claims that display production for the regular iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max (set at 5.8" and 6.1" respectively) is on schedule, but panel production for the 6.1" Pro and 6.7" Pro Max is delayed by one month.

According to Young, production of regular iPhone 12 displays began this month, but production of Pro displays will not begin until August. This could all lead to a delay in the release of the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max.

Young did not explain the reason for the delay. However, given that the iPhone 12 Pro models are scheduled to feature 120Hz refresh rate ProMotion displays like the iPad Pro 2020, that could be one of the reasons for the delay. Manufacturing such a screen would likely require a different manufacturing process. [However, Young has previously questioned the iPhone's ability to have a high refresh rate display.

If the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max are released before their Pro siblings, it could lead avid Apple fans to opt for the next-generation iPhone, which is less expensive than the Pro version. With its OLED display, A14 Bionic chip, 5G connectivity, upgraded dual rear camera system, and new flat-edge design that resembles the iPhone 4's industrial aesthetic, the standard iPhone 12 model is very attractive. It looks like it will be a thing of the past.

If Apple can nail down a price point like the iPhone SE 2020, the regular iPhone 12 could be very popular. We saw a $649-$749 price leak for the iPhone 12, which would be below the $999 Galaxy S20. Another report said that there may be a 4G-only iPhone 12 for as low as $549, but we don't believe it.

Even if all models of the IPhones 12 were to hit the market at the same time, the Young display rumor would suggest that there would be a limited quantity of Pro phones. Therefore, Apple fans disappointed at not being able to get their hands on the iPhone 12 Pro may simply opt for a regular phone.

Those willing to wait a little longer for the Pro phone will benefit from a better display as well as an upgraded triple camera array. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is also expected to include a LiDAR sensor, which will improve photography results and improve the augmented reality (AR) experience.

The iPhone 12 series is expected to be announced in September, possibly along with the Apple Watch 6. Until then, check the iPhone 12 hub for the latest leaks, rumors, and news.
