While an official Xbox Series X release date has yet to be set, we have a big clue as to when Microsoft's next-generation console will hit store shelves. According to a recent investor conference call, the Series X will likely launch in November, just in time for the holiday shopping rush.

This information comes from a tweet by Bloomberg's Dina Bass (via GamesRadar), in which Microsoft CFO Amy Hood claims that the new Xbox is "still on track for a November holiday season launch."

This is an important nitpick because Microsoft has yet to commit to a specific launch date beyond "Holiday 2020." A few months ago, the Xbox website erroneously listed the Xbox Series X release date as "Thanksgiving 2020," which was reportedly incorrect and was removed soon after it first appeared.

The November release date for the Xbox Series X is hardly a surprise and would be consistent with past Xbox release dates: the Xbox 360 debuted on November 22, 2005, the Xbox One on November 22, 2013, and the Xbox One X on November 7, 2017.

Our guess is that the Xbox Series X will launch after November 20, ahead of the Black Friday shopping rush scheduled for a week later. We also expect Sony's PS5 to launch at a similar time.

Microsoft will hold its Xbox Games Showcase today at 9 a.m. (12 p.m. EDT). However, it seems only a matter of time before we find out the price and purchase date of Microsoft's new console.
