We expect to see a mid-range phone with an impressive suite of specs for a price that could make it our pick for the best inexpensive phone. But the run-up to the Nord's launch has been an odd one, with OnePlus drip-feeding new bits of information about its highly anticipated phone on social media. So it's no surprise that the July 21 launch event will be a little different.

OnePlus has opted to fully reveal the new phone through an augmented reality experience. But if the AR event sounds too much for you, it just added a more traditional option.

If you want to see the most over-the-top version of the official reveal of the OnePlus Nord, you'll need to download a special AR app that turns your living room into a big stage for OnePlus' big phone reveal. Here is everything you need to watch the OnePlus Nord reveal live.

The OnePlus Nord reveal event will take place on Tuesday, July 21 at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST.

OnePlus Nord's public event will be viewed live on their website, traditional live stream... or augmented reality, and can be viewed live. In the basic version, just open this page at the time of the event.

For the AR-based option, you will need to download the OnePlus Nord AR app.

Once the app is open, there is an option to create an avatar (according to OnePlus, "bored people" can skip this step). Presumably, this avatar will appear as part of some sort of virtual audience during the actual show.

After following a few prompts, you will be asked to move your phone to create a virtual AR play space for the event. Once that is set, an augmented reality countdown timer for the show will pop up.

When July 21 arrives, simply return to the app to watch the AR show take place on a table, the floor, or any other location you designate as a OnePlus AR zone OnePlus recommends that for the best experience, fully charge your smartphone, use headphones and connect to Wi-Fi for the best experience.

The star of the OnePlus Nord event will be the phone itself, which is expected to pack specs such as a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, Snapdragon 765G CPU, up to 12GB RAM, and up to 256GB storage. The phone could also tout some serious photography music, with a 48MP wide sensor as well as a four-lens rear camera setup led by a dual-sensor front camera array.

OnePlus has previewed the Nord's design in various social media drops, but we expect to see the full look of the phone at the event. As for the Nord's price, it has been confirmed that it will be under $500, which may attract the attention of affordable rivals like the iPhone SE and the upcoming Google Pixel 4a.

We also expect a full reveal of OnePlus' new set of earbuds, the OnePlus Buds, which promise 30 hours of battery life, surpassing the AirPods. Also, OnePlus has stated that Nord will be its entire product family, so it is possible that more hardware will be revealed at the show. Could it be a new OnePlus TV or an additional phone? We should know for sure in the next few days.
