The Galaxy Z Fold 2 will not be priced higher than the Galaxy Fold, despite its much improved specs. However, it will likely lose the free gift that came with the first generation.

ETNews (via GSMArena) reports the price of the Fold 2 as well as the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. There is no specific mention of what the source is, but ETNews is usually a reliable source of Samsung information. This Korean site seems to have a lot of good contacts within the country's largest electronics manufacturer.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 will apparently cost 2.39 million won. The first Galaxy Fold sold for $1,980, so that's a pretty small price increase, if indeed it will be if Samsung localizes the price properly.

While the price is fixed, Samsung is being a bit generous as the Fold 2 will apparently not come with Galaxy Buds like the first Fold. What you get instead is a much more powerful set of specs, worthy of the premium price.

The Fold 2 will reportedly feature a 7.7-inch 120Hz internal OLED screen, a secondary 6.23-inch cover screen, a 5G-enabled Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset, and five cameras. These sensors consist of a 12MP main camera on the back, a 64MP telephoto camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and two 10MP selfie cameras, one embedded in each display via a punch hole.

ETNews reports that the Z Flip 5G will be priced at 1.65 million won (converted to $1,380). This is the same price as the LTE version launched in February of this year, which also seems like a generous offer considering the upgraded chipset.

We expect these two foldable devices, along with the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Watch 3, and Galaxy Tab S7, to appear at the Galaxy Unpacked event on August 5. The Note 20 and Z Fold 2 launches There may be a delay, but both are expected to be available within one to two months of their unveiling.
