Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Video reveals Big Camera Upgrade

New Galaxy Note 20 leaks reveal interesting things about the camera on Samsung's upcoming phablet.

First, let's talk about the camera leaks revealed by Jimmy Is Promo in a new YouTube video; Jimmy is responsible for some of the first live-action images of the Note 20, and what he showed seems plausible, based on other rumors about the new phone .

At the beginning of the video, Jimmy introduces the zoom options that will be available on the Note 20 Ultra. A 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom, and up to 50x zoom have been mentioned in other rumors before and are a step up from the Galaxy S20 Ultra's 4x optical zoom (known as the 100x "space zoom") sensor. However, this periscope sensor is believed to be much smaller than the S20 Ultra's, with a resolution of 13MP instead of 48MP, which could mean reduced performance in low light.

For reference, other cameras expected on the Note 20 Ultra are a 108MP main camera (the same as on the S20 Ultra), a 12MP ultrawide sensor, and a laser autofocus sensor to aid image quality and photo effects. The basic Note 20 has the same ultrawide camera, but the other lenses are a 12MP main camera, a 64MP telephoto camera (likely the 3x hybrid zoom also found on the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 Plus), and a time-of-flight to aid photo effects The sensor has been replaced by a sensor.

Another previously rumored feature is the introduction of a Pro Video setting, which will allow avid smartphone videographers the same level of fine-grained control that photographers do in Pro Photo mode. Pro Video provides access to several resolution and frame rate options, as well as a histogram for quick analysis of the colors in a frame.

Audio capture mode also offers "Omni" settings for front, rear, or both, with USB or Bluetooth microphone options. Last year, the Galaxy Note 10 introduced a "zoom-in microphone" feature that allows for more accurate recording of sounds from distant subjects. These audio capture settings seem to be an evolution of this.

The ability to disable audio recording on one side or the other of the phone, with user commentary, could help record video where ambient noise is less noticeable, or focus on the subject without noise close to the user spoiling the image.

In the accessibility menu, the Note 20 appears to be able to use Bixby to create voice descriptions about what was captured; Bixby has been compared to digital assistants such as Alexa and Google Assistant, which have an inefficient digital It is unfortunate that it has a bad reputation as an assistant, but this seems to be a genuinely useful feature that Samsung users with poor eyesight will really appreciate.

Also within the quick settings menu is Nearby Share, which is believed to be an upcoming Android feature that offers Bluetooth file transfer similar to Apple's AirDrop. the Nearby Share option allows users to set their account and device name, whether or not to show their device to others, and whether or not to allow this feature to use their data to transfer large files that would take too long over Bluetooth.

That's all for the camera leak, but there are some (low-resolution) images that the leaker, Ishan Agarwal, published on Twitter for you to see. The tweeted image shows the Note 20 in a metallic color called Mystic Bronze. This color scheme has also appeared in leaked information about the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, which is expected to appear at the same time as the Note 20.

The Note 20 Ultra is also shot of itself, as well as what appears to be the Galaxy Buds Live and Galaxy Watch 3. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 also has shots showing it to be the next generation foldable.

All of these products will appear at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event on August 5. The Note 20 will likely be available within weeks of this event, with an expected list price of over $1,000. Besides the previously discussed features, the Note 20 series is expected to feature a 5G-enabled Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset and the Ultra model is expected to feature a 6.9-inch 120Hz OLED display with up to QHD resolution.
