Asus ROG Phone 3 Leak reveals stunning Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Slayer

We got a chance to take a look at the Asus ROG Phone 3, and based on the design and previous spec rumors, this could be a dark horse competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Note 20.

This rendering image was published on Evan Blass' Patreon page (via 9to5Google). It shows the front and back of the ROG Phone 3, which actually looks quite handsome for a phone that is going for a dramatic "gamer" look.

Aside from the slightly rounded chassis, these renderings show that the ROG Phone 3 looks a lot like its predecessor, the Asus ROG Phone 2. The RGB lighting, horizontally positioned rear camera, and triangular cutout on the back are all features that Asus hints at the return of the vapor chamber cooling system used to maintain the gaming phone's temperature.

This time, however, there are more cameras: the ROG Phone 2 had a 48-megapixel main camera and a 13MP ultrawide camera on the back, and a 24MP sensor on the front upper bezel. We know that there will be three rear cameras, with two sensors being 64MP (possibly replacing the 48MP sensor) and the third being a 13MP camera.

A recent leak from China's TENAA regulatory list fills in some other interesting ROG Phone 3 details: a 6.6-inch FHD display, a 6,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging, 8GB, 12GB, 16GB RAM, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB of storage to choose from.

The ROG Phone 3 should also be one of the first handsets to feature Qualcomm's new faster Snapdragon 865 Plus chip. This processor promises speeds in excess of 3 GHz, along with more powerful graphics performance.

Gaming smartphones have a different audience than premium flagships, but the overlap in features and specs makes the ROG Phone 3 and Galaxy Note 20 worth comparing.

The Note 20 should have the same CPU as the ROG Phone 3 and similar RAM and storage. However, the Note 20, especially the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, has superior screen size, screen resolution, and camera technology, as well as the distinctive S Pen stylus as an additional feature.

However, the ROG Phone 3 has the advantage in battery capacity, charging speed, and conceivably price given what we already know; the ROG Phone 2 had a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and its successor is expected to do the same.

The ROG Phone 3 is rumored to launch on July 22 and is expected to be priced at $900, whatever the ROG Phone 2 is; the Galaxy Note 20 will not be unveiled until Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event on August 5, but even then still less than a month away.
