Forget Apple Glass - Samsung Smart glasses can get this killer feature

Apple Glass remains a mystery, but another smart glasses patent reveals how its competition stands up, borrowing the navigational bezel rumored to be the biggest feature of Samsung's Galaxy Watch 3 It seems.

In fact, PatentlyApple reports that Samsung's smart glasses may have taken some cues from the company's smartwatch. According to a patent granted last week, the glasses' interface is similar to the Tizen OS in Samsung's Galaxy Watch Active 2 and may be controlled by a touch bezel built into the frame.

Since this is just a patent, there is no guarantee that its contents will be realized in Samsung's debut smart glasses. However, it does provide a clue as to what approach Samsung will take to bring a product to market that will compete with Apple Glass.

Apple is preparing its own augmented reality OS, codenamed Project Starboard, which looks primitive in the glassOS concept art we have seen.

Samsung's answer is a scaled-down version of Tizen OS, which may provide access to select apps including smart home, music, and messaging controls, and would not distract from the physical world.

Since we do not yet know how Apple Glass will be navigated, except for gesture control speculation, Samsung's proposal for an in-frame capacitive touch system may hold the answer to future smart glasses

The face book is a good example of this.

Facebook, Google, and Huawei are currently planning smart glasses, and their patents propose solutions to the complexity of packing advanced technology into a small, frame-like shell.
