Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 leak reveals screen size, specifications, camera and more

While the Galaxy Note 20 is now the center of attention for Samsung, the Galaxy Fold 2 remains a highly anticipated device and relatively little we know about it.

Reports last week indicated that the Fold 2 would not be announced at Samsung's Unpacked event on August 5, but courtesy of Korea's ETNews (via PhoneArena), specs that provide a clearer picture of what the Fold 2 will end up looking like have leaked.

First, it appears that both the Galaxy Fold's internal and external displays will be larger. Meanwhile, the main screen will reportedly be 7.7 inches instead of 7.3 inches, possibly thanks to the removal of the large camera notch of the original Fold.

Expect the next Fold's display to be an upgrade not only in size but also in technology, as ETNews has reported that Ultra Thin Glass, which first debuted on the Galaxy Z Flip, will be featured on the Galaxy Fold 2 and will be available on the Galaxy S20 series and It will feature a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, as will the soon-to-be-released Galaxy Note 20, the report said. As for power and memory, Samsung may opt for the Snapdragon 865 Plus, a new chipset recently revealed by Qualcomm that offers slightly better performance than the regular 865 found in most flagship Android products. It offers slightly better performance. It will reportedly be paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of non-expandable storage.

The Fold 2 will reportedly have separate batteries on the left and right sides, with a total capacity of 4,365 mAh. This is a bit of a surprise considering that the original Galaxy Fold had a 4,380mAh battery.

ETNews reports that Samsung will skip the 108-megapixel primary sensor for the upcoming Fold and instead employ the more common 12-megapixel main lens, another 12-megapixel camera for ultra-wide shots, and a crop for zoom The report says that a 64-megapixel telephoto is the likely choice. This is exactly the same one found on the base Galaxy S20. There will also be a 10MP front-facing camera at the top of both displays, allowing users to take selfies with or without the phone folded.

While the Galaxy Fold 2 looks attractive from these leaked specs, it is worth pointing out that it is far from the only foldable Samsung has to offer. There is also the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, which is expected to appear at the Unpacked event in a few weeks, and a cheaper version of the Fold 2, tentatively named the Galaxy Fold Lite. This model will replace the Fold 2's external display with a notification strip and possibly fewer cameras.

Add all of this up, and there are a lot of Samsung foldable phones, making for a busy second half of the year for Galaxy-branded devices. We look forward to peeking at some of them at Samsung's launch on August 5
