Spotify is down on iOS - what you Need to know [Update]

Spotify, a contender for best music streaming app, was one of several programs that crashed for iOS users this morning, but seems to be crawling back online. For several hours now, Waze, Tinder, and Pinterest have also been causing problems for iPhone owners.

Data from DownDetector.com reflects reports from social media and shows a number of apps crashing when opened on an iPhone or iPad as of 6:15 AM EST. At this time, the issue does not appear to be affecting Android or desktop devices.

The Verge reports that Facebook may be the cause of this outage. Although not confirmed, some users on Twitter are aware that Facebook's SDK may be affecting other app software.

Facebook responded to the outage on its developer platform around 7 a.m. ET, saying that the company is "investigating an increase in iOS SDK errors that are causing some apps to crash."

Spotify also commented through its Spotify Cares account that the music service is "currently aware of some issues."

According to The Verge, TikTok is also experiencing a disruption this morning, but it is working fine on our iOS devices, so it may be the result of another issue. The other apps in question - namely Spotify and Waze - are still crashing, but the problem seems to be improving.

The last time the Facebook SDK caused widespread app problems was in May and took the company about a day to resolve. These apps could be up and running again soon, so check back here for updates.
