OnePlus Nord Gets OLED Screen to take IPHONE Settings

The OnePlus Nord may be a budget phone, but it appears that OnePlus is not going to take any shortcuts when it comes to offering a high-quality screen to combat the iPhone SE.

Rumors suggested that OnePlus' upcoming sub-$500 phone could feature an OLED panel and a higher refresh rate, but no such information has been officially confirmed. However, OnePlus removed any doubts about the OnePlus Nord's OLED screen in a rather comical way, conveying the news in a meme, of all things.

"Making OnePlus smartphones more affordable was a challenge and we had to make some tough decisions," said OnePlus Nord's official Instagram account, suggesting that an LCD display would be "more affordable" Robin captioned the infamous Batman meme with a slap in the face. 'But compromising on a display was not one of them. Sorry Robin. #OnePlusNord."

Previously, OnePlus confirmed that the new phone would cost less than $500 and feature a Snapdragon 765G 5G processor. Additional rumors suggest that the OnePlus Nord will feature 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 4,300mAh battery with fast charging capabilities The OLED screen is expected to span 6.4 inches, which should be enough area for the average user

Nord is also expected to have a 6.4" OLED screen.

Nord will be officially unveiled through an augmented reality event on July 21; according to OnePlus, download the app on both iOS and Android to watch the launch event on July 21 at 10am ET/7am PT. The event will take place on July 21 at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT. Physical invitations, called Nord AR Cardboards, have also been specially produced.

These invitations allow users to participate in a "unique hands-on experience" with the device in augmented reality, scanning a QR code on the physical invitation to join the experience. The event will likely be similar to the VR reveal that OnePlus held for the OnePlus 2 five years ago in 2015, but we don't know exactly what is planned for this year's attendees. At the very least, the July 21 event will give potential buyers ample reason to attend, as they will be able to take a closer look at the OnePlus Nord once.

OnePlus has published a way to get an invitation on Instagram. Follow the account, post a public Instagram post with the hashtag #OnePlusNordAR, fill out the form, and wait for OnePlus to randomly select a winner on July 10.

While it certainly sounds like a great prospect for business people looking for a new 5G-enabled smartphone, the OnePlus Nord probably won't be the first to arrive in the US. The first batch of pre-orders sold out quickly to the lucky 100 buyers who were hungry for a taste of cheap 5G goodness. But OnePlus has so far only stated that the phone will be available in Europe and India.
