Samsung Galaxy Note 20 first hands—on photos just leaked - and it looks fantastic

The first hands-on photos of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 have been released. And needless to say, we're impressed with how good Samsung's new flagship looks.

Leaker Jimmy Is Promo showed off what he says is Samsung's Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (the most feature-rich model) in three tweets: one with the Note 20 in hand, another showing the back with the S Pen stylus attached, and the third A detail of the display. The phone's appearance matches a recently leaked rendered image of the Note 20 from Samsung's own website, so it seems very likely that this is a legitimate product.

In the first image we see the Note 20 Ultra in a glossy black color. The leaked image shown earlier was a handsome bronze color, but judging by the camera array, this appears to be the same model.

The trio of cameras appears to be a combination of a main, ultra-wide, and periscope telephoto (resolutions of 108 MP, 12 MP, and 13 MP, respectively). These three cameras are backed up by a depth sensor.

Previous rumors of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra have said that its sensor is a new laser that will help with depth effects like bokeh as well as focusing the main camera. The standard Note 20 will also have three cameras and sensors, but will use a conventional time-of-flight sensor and have a different sensor resolution.

Images of the Note 20 Ultra's display by Jimmy Is Promo show that Samsung has made some subtle improvements. He claims that the bezels are smaller on this model, but this difference may be hard to spot when looking at the phone on its own.

Fortunately, leaker Ice Universe has put together a comparison shot with the Galaxy Note 10 that helps illustrate what has changed since last year's model. The comparison seems to confirm all the changes in the bezels, as well as the fact that the Note 20 Ultra has a smaller center punch hole for the selfie camera and that the Note 20's display appears to be more curved than the Note 10's.

The Galaxy Note 20 also has a more square frame, which helps differentiate it from the rounded corners of Samsung's other flagship Galaxy S20 series.

We are about a month away from finding out if this Galaxy Note 20 leak and others are true. Rumors about the Galaxy Unpacked event on August 5, where Samsung is believed to announce the Note 20 along with the Galaxy Fold 2, Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Tab S7, and many other products, have been regular.

In addition to the exterior elements seen here, there are also rumors of a 5G-enabled Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset, a 6.9-inch QHD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 4,500-5,000mAh battery capacity, and in the Ultra model, 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage. The standard version will share the same chipset and refresh rate, but will have 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, smaller battery capacity, and a 6.4-inch FHD display instead.
