President Trump said Wednesday that he supports a second round of stimulus for individuals, arguing that he wants to send more money than the Democratic bill allows.

"I support it, but it has to be done properly," he said in an interview with the Fox Business Network.

He added, "I actually support bigger numbers than the Democrats, but it has to be done properly. The last time it was done, it was done in a way that discouraged work."

The president said last month that his second stimulus bill would be "very generous," but did not provide specifics at the time.

The Heroes Act, which has already passed the House, would send $1,200 in relief money, up to $6,000, to each person in the household, including all dependent children. This is an increase from the first round of the stimulus package, which provided $1,200 for each adult under age 16 and $500 for each dependent, with no benefits for older dependents.

The Senate still must approve the Heroes Act.

Just today, the U.S. jobs report for June was released, showing that the economy added 4.8 million jobs and the unemployment rate fell to 11.1%. Since the expected unemployment rate was closer to 12.3%, this momentum could complicate plans for a stimulus package2.
