According to Bleeping Computer, an attacker is attacking accounts on the popular online gaming platform Roblox in order to spread messages supporting Donald Trump's 2020 presidential re-election campaign.

The attackers brute-forced weak passwords to compromise Roblox user accounts and spread messages such as "Ask your parents to vote for Trump this year!" and "MAGA2020" messages can be displayed and distributed.

Roblox is a gaming platform that allows users to create and share games with others. It boasts over 100 million users worldwide and is one of the most popular gaming companies in the world.

Since the game is primarily used by children between the ages of 9 and 14, it is somewhat alarming that their accounts are being targeted.

Many Roblox users have seen their account bios updated with pro-Trump text, while others have seen messages sent to friends asking them to support Trump in the upcoming election.

In addition to changing users' bios and sending messages, pranksters have also modified Roblox's avatar to dress in pro-Trump attire. For example, avatars are given red baseball caps with "Running of the Bulls" written in white capital letters, similar to Trump's "Make America Great Again" hat. Avatars are also given a T-shirt with an eagle, the symbol of the United States, in front of the American flag.

About 1,000 accounts are believed to have been compromised, although Roblox has yet to confirm whether this is the case.

Users of the gaming platform quickly confirmed the infringement on Twitter. One said: "Quite a few of my friends on Twitter have had their accounts hacked. No one has entered their passwords anywhere."
