While Apple listed the major improvements offered to iPhone and iPad users in iOS 14 in last week's official announcement, eager users are discovering their own improvements that were not mentioned in the keynote. One of these fixes a problem that iPhone users have had for some time.

iPhone users can now add captions to photos directly from their phones. Previously, this was only possible through the Photos app on the Mac, but now users can write descriptions immediately without having to wait for the photos to sync.

This may sound like a trivial addition, but writing a short description of a photo makes a huge difference because that data is indexed for use in the photo search interface. In short, as long as you are diligent about writing captions, it should be a little easier to track down a particular shot.

As MacRumors explains, adding captions is fairly straightforward. Tap a photo to make it full screen, then swipe up to access the caption field. Tap the field, write your caption, and press Enter to save it.

These small "quality of life" changes should make the iPhone more pleasant to use. iOS 14 includes everything from home screen widgets and a redesigned Siri to picture-in-picture mode and App Clips (Google's Instant Apps), to Picture-in-Picture mode and App Clips (Apple's answer to Google's Instant Apps).
