Google Pixel4a is coming soon, but it doesn't have this feature

Google Pixel 4a has been filed with the FCC and will likely be available soon.

Mishaal Rahman (via The Verge) posted on Twitter that he was instructed about a new filing by the FCC for a Google phone codenamed "G025J." since the FCC only takes action on phones that are almost ready to launch, we expect to see it soon.

While it has not been determined that it is the Pixel 4a, it seems logical that this is the next phone in the Pixel family, given that the Pixel 4 was named the "G020."

What is also clear from this list is that the Pixel 4a will not have motion-sensing features. The Soli radar chip that drives these features uses a specific millimeter wave radio signal, which the FCC was supposed to test to make sure it was safe for users. The listing does not mention this, which means that the phone does not have motion-sensing.

As we had expected from other leaks, it is always good to get more evidence for a particular claim, as the Pixel 4a is supposed to drop the large bezel of the Pixel 4 in favor of a punch hole display, which is intended to make it a cheaper device, Google did not seem to have the space or budget to add this feature.

The FCC is only interested in the radio frequencies generated by the phones, but we want to know about the whole thing. Longstanding rumors have said that the Pixel 4a will come in a single 5.8-inch size, rather than the standard and XL variants of the Pixel 3a. It is also said to have a single rear camera, a single selfie camera, a rear fingerprint scanner, and an OLED display. It will have a new processor, probably the Snapdragon 730 chipset and 8 GB of RAM.

We also expect a price of $400 or less. This is the price of last year's basic Pixel 3a. But now that Google is facing stiff competition from Apple and the iPhone SE (2020), it needs every advantage it can get, including a cheaper price if it can manage it.

The Pixel 4a's release date has already been changed several times this year, likely due to Google's attempt to respond to rapidly changing issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic; after missing its scheduled release dates in May and June, it is now scheduled to launch in July.

However, other rumors claim that Google will release the Pixel 4a alongside the Pixel 5 in October; as Rahman stated in his original tweet, Google will consequently rename the Pixel 4a to Pixel 5a, making the flagship and budget device more similar could become more similar.
