Samsung Galaxy Note 20 release date just leaked - and Galaxy Fold 2

Samsung is believed to be planning three major launches this fall: the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Fold 2, and Galaxy S20 Fan Edition.

The sources were detailed by Korean site ETNews (via Android Central), citing anonymous industry sources. According to the report, Samsung plans to release one of these phones every month starting in August, starting with the Note 20, followed by the Fold 2 in September, and finally the S20 Fan Edition in October.

According to the report, the reason for these three consecutive months of launches is Samsung's effort to start selling after suffering the same slump as all smartphone makers during the global COVID-19 lockdown.

The ETNews report also mentions the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, a version of Samsung's clamshell foldable phone announced earlier this year with a new 5G-enabled chipset. Unlike the other phones mentioned so far, however, no specific release date was given.

The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition is a revival of the old Samsung branding originally used on the Galaxy Note 7 Fan Edition, a refreshed version of the infamous Samsung tablet known for its explosive battery. In essence, it is the S20 Lite, similar to the Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note 10 Lite released earlier this year.

Earlier leaks indicated that the S20 Fan Edition would arrive in January 2021, a year after the S10 Lite and Note 10 Lite, with 128GB of storage and Android 10 as the OS.

The ETNews article also referred to the phone as the S20 Pen Edition or S20 Pan Edition. However, a check of the different translations of the article convinced us that these are misinterpretations and that the report consistently refers to this phone as the Fan Edition.

Before the S20 Fan Edition is released in October, we look forward to the Note 20 and Fold 2. Just as the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy Z Flip were released in February, the previous leakers and The consensus among the leakers and other interested parties was that the two models would be released at the same time. However, this is not consistent with the new report and we will need to see if other publications or individuals revise their predictions.

Samsung's rumored August 5 Galaxy Unpacked event still appears to be on track. Rumors also suggested that Samsung's Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Tab S7 would debut at this event, but it is possible that these releases will also be dispersed.
