The latest PS4 and Xbox Series X game to receive a free upgrade is the highly anticipated superhero adventure Marvel's Avengers, which Square Enix plans to release on September 4.

Gary Snetschen of Crystal Dynamics confirmed the news in a PlayStation Blog post, highlighting some of the key features that Avengers will enjoy on the next-generation platform, as well as revealing some impressive-looking screenshots.

Square Enix said it will share more information about the Xbox Series X upgrade program for Avengers in the future; it is unclear if the Xbox Series X version of the game will be included in Microsoft's Smart Delivery program or if players will have to go another route.
