The developer beta of iOS 14 is now available, giving us our first taste of exciting new features like widgets and the App Library. But it may also have revealed a huge display upgrade for the upcoming iPhone 12.

Concept artist and noted leaker Ben Geskin posted a screenshot of the iOS 14 accessibility menu. According to the description, this option "sets the maximum frame rate of the display to 60 frames per second." However, since the current iPhone 11 series is already capped at 60 Hz, this could be a sign that Apple is preparing for a faster 120 Hz display in the iPhone 12.

The iPhone 12 has long been rumored to feature a 120Hz Pro Motion display on the higher-end iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. This will allow the new iPhones to scroll incredibly smoothly and provide smoother frame rates for games and videos.

According to a recent leak from EverythingApplePro, the Pro Motion screen can adjust between 60Hz and 120Hz on the fly, which could save battery power when higher frame rates are not needed.Galaxy S 20's 120Hz display is found to eat up a lot of battery life when higher refresh rates are enabled, so we hope this is the case.

Geskin later stated that he also found a "limit frame rate" option on the iPad Pro, which already has a 120Hz display. In other words, this is an iPadOS 14 feature that may have somehow made it into the iOS 14 beta. However, given the existing rumors about 120Hz iPhones, this upgrade seems more likely than ever.

The iPhone 12 is expected to come in up to four different models, each with 5G support and an OLED screen. Apple's latest A14 processor will likely be used, and the Pro model is expected to feature the same advanced LiDAR sensor as the iPad Pro series. iPhone 12 details will be revealed as the September launch approaches.
