The base model of the iPhone 12 may be the smallest flagship smartphone in years. In fact, it will be smaller than Apple's current smallest phone, the iPhone SE (2020), in news that will delight users who like small phones.

EverythingApplePro showed off a clay dummy of the smallest iPhone 12 in a Twitter video, clearly smaller than the 2020 SE; EAP had previously hinted at this fact when talking about other leaked information, but the dummy model now have more evidence if we assume it is accurate to the final version of the iPhone 12.

As the video shows, the iPhone SE is taller and wider than the iPhone 12, even though the iPhone 12 is supposed to have a 5.4-inch OLED while the iPhone SE has a 4.7-inch panel. Of course, in order to have this display on the device, it will use Face ID and gesture controls, which some users prefer, instead of Touch ID and a physical home button.

According to some rumors, the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 is only an entry-level model. Above it is the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max, the same as the current iPhone 11. iPhone 12 Pro will also be 6.1 inches, and iPhone 12 Pro Max will be 6.7 inches, making it the largest iPhone to date.

While other manufacturers have been increasing the size of their phones more and more in recent years, Apple has left users with the option of getting a more compact premium smartphone. In fact, the 5.8-inch iPhone 11 Pro is one of only a handful of flagship models under 6 inches, which can be a major selling point for users with small hands or those who want to use their phone with one hand.

Besides the new size and display technology, the iPhone 12 series will also introduce 5G to Apple smartphones. This will likely coincide with the introduction of a new chipset, dubbed A14 Bionic, which will further solidify Apple's CPU advantage over its Android rivals.

The back of the phone will feature two cameras on the iPhone 12 models and four on the iPhone 12 Pros, placed in a square camera bump similar to the iPhone 11 series, which can be easily seen in the EAP video. All models will have a main sensor and an ultrawide sensor, with the Pro models adding a telephoto camera. The latest rumor is that only the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max will feature a LiDAR depth sensor for improved photography effects and enhanced augmented reality experiences.

All of this is expected to be announced in September, as is customary for Apple iPhone events. However, there are several rumors that coronavirus-related issues in Apple's supply chain mean that one or more versions of the iPhone 12 will arrive in October.
