The best Kindle is now at a fantastic sale price on Amazon. Yes, Amazon has slashed the price of the Kindle Paperwhite and it is now $99.

When I reviewed the Paperwhite, I highly recommended it because Amazon finally brought waterproof-level durability to a mid-range e-reader. Previously, to get a waterproof Kindle with the Oasis, you had to pay a lot of money ($250!) ) to get a waterproof Kindle with the Oasis.

The Kindle Paperwhite is the best Kindle for most people and I recommend it to everyone, including my parents. Its $99 price is not much more expensive than an entry-level Kindle, and the extra pennies I spend on the Paperwhite are more than worth it for its IPX8 waterproof rating.

I tested the Kindle Paperwhite's water resistance by submerging it in a pail of water. After a 20-minute soak, which is much longer than you would have to submerge an e-reader in water, I took it out and the Paperwhite continued to run as if it had been dry the entire time.

The Kindle Paperwhite also does all the basics right. The anti-glare 300ppi display is sharp, the 5LED backlight is better than the Kindle's 4LED front light, and the large 8GB capacity is more than enough to store thousands of books.

In my review of the Kindle Paperwhite, I praised the e-reader's design. It also has Bluetooth capability for audiobooks; I gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars and awarded it an Editor's Choice award for its overall performance.
