Pete Davidson is King of the World...... Or rather, the King of Staten Island. Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson is starring in a new movie directed by Judd Apatow.

Apatow is returning to direct his first feature-length scripted film since 2015's Trainwreck. Since then, he has worked on a number of other films and TV shows as a producer and has been a constant presence in Hollywood (if not really). Davidson, meanwhile, has a constant presence on gossip sites thanks to his high-profile relationships with Ariana Grande, Kate Beckinsale, and Margaret Qualley.

"The King of Staten Island," like Apatow's other films, focuses on cases of developmental disabilities. Like Davidson in real life, Scott lost his firefighter father at an early age. Like Davidson, growing up Scott still lives with his mother (Marisa Tomei), smoking pot and playing with friends all day. Then his mother starts dating an outspoken firefighter (Bill Burr), and Scott is forced to confront his grief and the reality of moving on with his life as an adult.

"The King of Staten Island" will have a rare digital premiere, as theaters were closed due to a coronavirus outbreak. It was originally scheduled to have its world premiere at South by Southwest in March. When that festival was canceled, the film was scheduled to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, which was also canceled.
