PS5 price, release date and game leaked ahead of today's event

With Sony's PS5 "Future of Gaming" live streaming, we are only a few hours away from the first reveal of the games that will be playable on the PS5. However, more information about the console, including pricing, release date, and design, may be revealed soon.

A series of tweets from the somewhat popular leaker @IronManPS5 (formerly known as PSErebeus) teased the PS5's price, release date, the console's design reveal date, and what to expect from today's gaming event. The account has had a mixed track record in the past, somewhat accurately predicting a June 2 PS5 event (the original date for today's event was June 4), but insisting that the event would focus on the console itself.

The account claimed that the PS5 would be priced at $499, which is consistent with many leaks and predictions we have heard in the past (aside from Amazon's wild list of prices that popped up this week). However, IronManPS5 claims that there may be multiple configurations, including an 825GB model for $399 and a 1.5TB model for $499.

The account also states that pre-orders for the console will begin in July, with a mid-November launch date.According to IronManPS5, the final PS5 design was revealed on the PlayStation Blog on July 7 and was published in the PlayStation Official Magazine UK's July issue. Given that Sony revealed the PS5's dual-sense controller in a blog post, it seems unlikely that this is how it will be unveiled.

The account further claims that today's event will see the announcement of "Horizon Zero Dawn," a new "Ratchet & Clank" game, and the long-rumored "Gran Turismo 7." It also states that a new PlayStation VR headset will be ready by early 2021

IronManPS5 also has news for Xbox fans, claiming that the Xbox Series X will launch on November 6 for $499. He also claims that the less expensive Xbox Series S will be available in 2021 for $399.

Again, these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt and do not appear to be corroborated by reliable sources. However, some of the predictions regarding the IronManPS5's price and release date seem reasonable, and the July hardware reveal is believable given how close to launch it is. As for the game, we should know in a few hours whether these leaks are real or not.
