The design of Google Pixel4a has just leaked and there is 1 big surprise

Google's Pixel 4a should launch next month, but as July approaches, more and more leaks about the search giant's next affordable phone are coming out.

The latest source is a rendered image of the Pixel 4a released by smartphone case maker ESR. It also revealed the possibility that the Pixel 4a will feature wireless charging.

One of the renderings used to promote ESR's Pixel 4a Metal Kickstand Phone Case shows that the case can also charge the phone with a wireless pad. While these are not official renderings and some skepticism is warranted, they do indicate that the Pixel 4a may have the same wireless charging capabilities as the flagships.

This is quite surprising, as the Pixel 3a does not feature wireless charging and there is no leaked information suggesting that the Pixel 4a will charge wirelessly. However, such a feature would certainly make Google's next phone more attractive and would give it a competitive edge over the iPhone SE 2020.

Other renderings reaffirm that the Pixel 4a will feature a single rear camera, presumably a 12.2MP lens housed in a square module, as mentioned in previous leaks and rumors. Sadly, this means that the Pixel 4a will not have a dual rear camera like the Pixel 4 or Pixel 4 XL.

This means that the Pixel 4a may have camera capabilities that are more like an upgraded Pixel a rather than a stripped-down Pixel 4 rear camera. Nevertheless, the photographic capabilities of Google's phones are due to its computational photography technology, meaning that Pixel phones manage to deliver impressive photos with fewer cameras than their rivals. The Pixel 4, for example, delivers photos that can beat the Galaxy Note 10 Plus and even beat the iPhone 11 Pro, which is currently one of our picks for the best smartphone camera.

The ESR renderings also show off how the Pixel 4a uses a punch-hole selfie camera to achieve a display (at 5.8 inches, it appears to use an OLED panel) with significantly slimmer bezels than the Pixel 4. That doesn't mean there could not be room for Google's Soli chip, which is used to drive the Pixel 4's face unlock technology.

No specs are listed in the ESR listing. So far, however, we know that the Pixel 4a will be powered by a Snapdragon 730 chip, which promises decent, if not flagship-class, performance. Storage is expected to start at 128GB. No word on battery size, but expect it to be larger than the Pixel 3a's 3,000 mAh.

The Pixel 4a will have to battle Apple's iPhone SE in the best value phone segment. Despite being the cheapest iPhone, it has the same high-end A13 Bionic chipset as the iPhone 11, wireless charging, and a single 12MP rear camera for impressive photography. in continuous web surfing tests using 4G LTE, the iPhone SE recorded a battery life of 9 hours and 18 minutes.

In other words, the Pixel 4a may lose to the iPhone SE in performance, but it has a chance to beat Apple's device in photos and battery life. The more modern design of the Pixel 4a will also appeal to those who do not want a smartphone that looks like the iPhone of a few years ago.
