iOS14 is getting some amazing features to make browsing better

Apple may be struggling with bugs in iOS 13.5, but at least it's looking forward to iOS 14.

This is according to 9to5Mac, which spotted a new feature in an early build of iOS 14 that it was able to get. The translator is built into iOS 14's Safari browser, allowing users to translate within the app without having to use a third-party service or app.

Siri in iOS already has the ability to translate words and phrases, but this translation is not in the native iOS 14 app. That is likely to change as Apple starts with Safari.

According to 9to5Mac, the translation feature is set to automatically feature the source language, but there is also an option to trigger translation on a per-website basis. There is also apparently an option to switch between the translated text and the original text without having to refresh the web page.

It may not seem like much of a feature, but native translation is definitely long overdue for Safari on iOS. Google's Chrome browser already supports translation in its iOS app, but translation is not automatic; it requires action.

However, translation in Safari is only part of the picture. Apple could push the translation to the rest of the IOS 14 apps. And 9to5Mac noted that such a translation feature could take advantage of the Neural Engine in the chipsets of the latest iPhones like the iPhone 12, meaning that the translation would be performed on the phone rather than firing data over the Internet. The ability to translate in real time, even when not connected to the Internet, would be quite a useful feature, especially for those who like to travel.

Support for the Apple Pencil on websites is not as exciting, but it remains a useful addition for those who like the precision of navigating and annotating sites with a stylus. This support will be included in iPadOS 14, which will be unveiled at Apple's WWDC 2020 along with iOS 14.

iOS 14 will include a new multitasking interface, a list view of apps, a new fitness app, the ability to try apps without downloading them, and much more. iOS 14 will be announced on June 22, and the latest news and leaks on iOS 14 Hub will keep you updated.
