Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Plus Leak just revealed all the cameras

The Galaxy Note 20 Plus' rear camera has leaked, and the upcoming Samsung flagship will inherit one of the S20 Ultra's most impressive cameras, but the periscope zoom camera may not be as powerful.

Ice Universe, known for its Twitter-based leaks, has revealed some new details about the Galaxy Note 20 on its Chinese-language Weibo page. This is the source of these new camera claims and makes for interesting reading.

A translation of Ice Universe's post indicates that we can expect a 108MP main camera, a 13MP telephoto camera, a 12MP ultra-wide angle camera, and a laser focus sensor.

The 108MP sensor is the same one found on the Galaxy S20 Ultra and is one of the sharpest cameras currently available on a smartphone. It's great news that Samsung is adding this to the top-of-the-line Note 20, but the S20 Ultra has been plagued by focusing issues, and it has taken unnecessarily long to get a focused photo.

This is probably where the laser focus came in. We hope that this sensor, which replaces the usual time-of-flight assist sensor, will solve Samsung's camera woes: the TOF sensor will help effects like portrait mode function more accurately and make AR apps work better, but some users may find that laser focus should help, they may prefer a camera system that focuses reliably.

The 12MP ultrawide camera has the same resolution as the ultrawide camera found on the entire Galaxy S20 series, but the 13MP telephoto camera is not found on any of the phones. the S20 and Galaxy S20 Plus have a 64MP 3x hybrid zoom sensor, while the S20 Ultra has a 48MP 4x optical zoom sensor with up to 100x hybrid zoom. It was not included in last year's Galaxy S10 or Galaxy Note 10, both of which used 12MP sensors.

According to Ice Universe, this 13MP telephoto camera has a maximum zoom of 50x, placing it between the S20 and S20 Plus' maximum 30x and the S20 Ultra's 100x.

The leak has raised questions about what the base Galaxy Note 20 will use for its camera. We expect something similar to the Note 20 Plus, but it is also possible that Samsung will replace the main camera with a smaller one like the 12MP sensor on the S20 and S20 Plus. Along with that, the laser focus may be omitted.

We currently expect the Galaxy Note 20 series to be announced in August. It will likely be accompanied by Samsung's next foldable, the Galaxy Fold 2, and could be joined by the Galaxy Tab S7 tablet.

Other specs expected for the Note 20 include 4,000mAh and 4,500mAh batteries, Snapdragon 865 CPU (Exynos 990 outside the US), 120Hz display, and 5G connectivity. The design is still a mystery at this point, but it will probably have sharper corners, similar to the Galaxy S20, and a slot at the bottom for the important S Pen stylus that characterizes the Galaxy Note series.
