Apple's new AirPods Studio appear to be ready to debut this month, as firmware for the company's first premium over-ear headphones has reportedly been finalized and flashed to production units.

EverythingApplePro shared an "exclusive" update from XDA Developer Max Weinbach on the AirPods Studio in their latest video on iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 rumors. According to this leaker, the firmware for the over-ear headphones is complete and ready to be pushed to production models.

EverythingApplePro said that the launch of the AirPods Studio is "imminent" and will probably take place at WWDC 2020. The virtual event is scheduled to kick off on June 22. This carries weight from last week's DigiTimes report claiming that the headphones have entered production.

Weinbach's information coincides with the release of iOS 13.5.1, which not only patched the jailbreak worked on by the EverythingApplePro host, but also launched the 13.5.5 beta. This beta added an audio section to Apple News Plus and added narrated versions of certain stories.

MacRumors revealed images for several features and upcoming integrations, one of which depicts the rumored AirPods Studio icon.

Based on the priorities of previous WWDC agendas, Apple may delve into new audio options for Apple News Plus to try to rekindle interest in the service that failed to take off.

Apple could support the announcement of an Apple News Plus update with the release of the AirPods Studio. However, the unveiling of the first premium headphones could be saved for a larger hardware moment.

The AirPods Studio, like the AirPods Pro, is expected to feature active noise cancellation and a clarity mode for listening to ambient sounds. It is also rumored to feature head and neck detection and interchangeable earpads.
