Forget the Iphone SE - iPhone XR Just Fell to4499

The iPhone XR is now officially available for purchase refurbished from Apple's website, and while it may be a bit older than the iPhone 11, it is the cheapest official way to get the latest iPhone.

As originally reported by MacRumors, refurbished iPhone XR models can be found on Apple's own website alongside the iPhone 8, iPhone X, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. Prices start at $499.99 for the 64GB storage model and $629 for the 256GB storage model.

Compared to the new iPhone XR, these refurbished models are about $100 cheaper, down nearly $250 from the price when they were released in 2018. They are all unlocked, so you can plug in a SIM card from your favorite carrier when you receive it.

While a refurbished phone sounds like a used phone, Apple has gone to incredible lengths to rejuvenate the phone. The phone is checked for damage before the chassis and battery are replaced and the rest is thoroughly cleaned and placed in a new box. You will get a one-year warranty with all the accessories you would expect to be included inside.

The iPhone XR shares much of its DNA with the iPhone 11, including its size and display. However, the XR uses the older A12 chipset instead of the current A13 and will likely not receive software updates before the 11 due to its antiquity. Also, while the iPhone 11 is available in a choice of six colors, these refurbished XRs come in black, coral, white, or yellow, and the choice is limited by storage capacity.

If you want an even cheaper iPhone, the iPhone SE (2020) starts at $400, but then you miss out on the XR's large display and Face ID. Considering the difference the lack of bezels makes to the smartphone experience, it may be worth paying an extra $100 for a more enjoyable device.
