Google Pixel 5 should destroy iPhone12 in this real world speed test

The Google Pixel 5 should beat the iPhone 12 on at least one important real-world speed test.

A tweet by Bloomberg Beta's James Cham demonstrates this beautifully with the Pixel 2 XL and iPhone 11 Pro. By the end of his short speech, the Pixel was more than a sentence faster than the iPhone, and with far fewer transcription errors.

As Cham's video shows, the Pixel 2, presumably running the latest version of Android, beats the iPhone in speed and accuracy. And this is a comparison between the Pixel from 2017 and the iPhone from 2019, which thanks to its A13 Bionic chipset has more computing power than any Android phone could ever dream of. This means that the Pixel 5 will have a newer processor and hopefully updated software that will make this experience even better.

Both the iPhone and Pixel are capable of transcription, both on the device and by cloud assistants. However, the Pixel phone allows users to download the full transcription system (but only the English version), so full quality transcription is possible offline, solidifying its superiority over Apple's offering.

The Pixel 5, like the iPhone 12, is expected to arrive this fall; the Pixel 5 will come in only one size and is believed to have a mid-range chipset, while the iPhone 12 will come in four different models with three sizes to choose from and the A14 Bionic chip, another powerful CPU, is likely to be included.

However, the Pixel line has always been speedy, and that includes the speed of the Google Assistant versus Siri, as Google has put more capability in its devices; in Siri's case, there is a delay due to the need to rely on the cloud.

Both the Pixel 5 and iPhone 12 will introduce improved photography capabilities with industry-leading post-processing, and will introduce high refresh rate displays and 5G compatibility for the first time.
