Apple's glass leak reveals that it does not have this important feature

Apple Glass will not support an onboard speaker system and will require AirPods for audio integration, according to a leaker who seems to know all the details of Apple's upcoming AR wearable.

Earlier this week, Front Page Tech host Jon Prosser dropped a massive Apple Glass leak regarding the name, price, and key specs of "Apple's most mysterious product to date," but his information did not end there. Last night, Prosser said on a live recording of the VypDrive podcast that rumors that the $499 Apple Glass will ship without a built-in speaker are true.

When the topic of Apple Glass came up in a discussion between podcast host Vyyyper and guests XDA Developer Max Weinbach and Jon Prosser, exclusive leaks began to spill.

In response to comments about the compatibility of AirPods and Apple Glass, Prosser said that the latter do not come with speakers, so wearers are encouraged to own Apple's AirPods, one of the best wireless earphones, and integrate audio.

Prosser added that the company's goal is to offer "just the right" number of Apple Glass without impacting the need for and sales of AirPods, Apple Watch, and iPhone.

Apple Glass is likely to be more of an iPhone accessory than a futuristic computing device. In fact, Prosser reported that all AR processing will take place on the iPhone, helping to lower the cost of the lens while keeping it a necessity for using Apple's flagship smartphone.

If you're buying into Apple's wearables ecosystem, the Apple Glass as currently described would fit nicely within your current device. However, if you are interested in Apple Glass and do not have any other Apple products, the bill for full functionality will likely be $500 or more.

Of course, until the AR lens is unveiled, we won't know how essential Apple Glass will make having Apple's peripheral products; Apple Glass will be announced after Tim Cook announces the iPhone 12 and Apple Watch 6 this fall, as "another The iPhone 12 event has reportedly been pushed back to October.

However, if the annual keynote cannot allow media representatives to attend due to health and safety guidelines, Apple may wait until next March to reveal Apple Glass to the world.
