13 Reasons for Season 4: Release Date, Trailer, Cast and Everything We Know

Get ready to bid a tearful farewell to Netflix's teen drama "13 Reasons Why" Season 4 Netflix has announced that the finale season of "13 Reasons Why" will arrive in June. It's time to say goodbye to the graduating seniors of Liberty High School. [The fourth and final season will consist of 10 60-minute episodes. Starring Dylan Minnette, who will reprise his role as Clay Jensen, and other cast members including Alisha Baugh as Jessica Davis, Brandon Flynn as Justin Foley, Ross Butler as Zach Dempsey, and Miles Heizer as Alex Standell.

The streaming service's official synopsis reads, "But before they can say goodbye forever, they must keep a dangerous secret hidden and face a heartbreaking choice that could forever affect their futures."

"13 Reasons Why" first aired in 2017 and immediately created a buzz for its realistic and often unflinching depiction of contemporary teen issues such as bullying, sexual assault, and depression. It also drew criticism for its graphic depiction of suicide and rape.

In the first season, Clay Jensen (Minnette) is given a mysterious cassette tape recorded by Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), a classmate who committed suicide. Her audio diary describes her agonizing journey and the reasons for her suicide. Season 2 featured a court battle between Hannah's parents and the school, and Clay's quest to expose the toxic culture at Liberty High School. Season 3 depicted the murder of popular jock Bryce-Walker and the ripple effect it had on the entire student body.

On May 20, Netflix released the trailer for 13 Reasons Why season 4. The trailer shows how Clay Jensen and his friends at Liberty High School deal with the fallout from Monty's death at the end of the third season. Suspicion and accusations swirl around them, and law enforcement is breathing down their necks. 'What if they are watching all of us?' Jessica wonders. Perhaps they are.

And when Netflix announced the release date for Season 4, the streaming service also posted a teaser video showing a very moving final table read by the cast:

Dylan Minnette, who stars as Clay Jensen and nearly all of the main cast of 13 Reasons Why will return for the final season. They also return as students at Liberty High and Hillcrest:

A number of recurring characters and supporting characters, including parents, relatives, and significant others: [13 Reasons Why" Season 4 will also feature a new cast. The most notable is Dr. Robert Ellman, played by Gary Sinise ("Apollo 13," "Forrest Gump"). He comes to solve Clay's depression, sadness, and anger issues.

Other newcomers include Inde Navarrete as Monty's sister Estela de la Cruz and Jan Luis Castellanos as Diego Torres of the football team. It is also rumored that Natalie Lander of "The Middle" will play the character Amanda.

As for past "13 Reasons Why" cast members, it is unknown if either Katherine Langford as Hannah Baker or Justin Prentiss as Bryce Walker will appear. Both characters are deceased. However, they may reappear in flashbacks, memories, or dreams.

13 Reasons Why Season 3 ended with a finale that revealed the answer to a big mystery: who killed Bryce Walker? It turned out to be Alex, but Monty was framed for the murder. After Monty was arrested for sexually assaulting Tyler, Annie lied to the police that Monty had killed Bryce. Alex's father, Deputy Stendahl, reveals that Monty was killed in jail, but he solves the case to frame the dead man, not his son. Clay and the entire group help Alex cover up his actions.

But their troubles are not over yet. In the last scene, a fisherman discovers a bag of assault rifles hidden in the river after Clay, Tony, and Tyler foiled a raid at the Spring Festival.

The huge secret will haunt them all while Ani and Alex grapple with their role in Monty's death. And with Timothy Granaderos returning as Monty, we can expect flashbacks explaining what happened to him in prison.
