Samsung Galaxy A21S revealed in one thing iPhone SE is missing

UPDATE - May 15, 9am ET: Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy A21s for the UK market. This article has been updated to reflect this.

If you find even the $400 iPhone SE a bit too expensive to spend on a phone, Samsung has something for you: the Galaxy A21s. Excitingly, this model will have a huge battery.

Roland Quandt of WinFuture (via TechRadar) first revealed these details and the manufacturer's renderings, which you can see here. Key features include that the A21s will have a 5,000 mAh battery and will be available in June for €199 or £175 ($215 equivalent).

Other key features of the Galaxy A21s are a large 6.5-inch HD+ display, 3GB of RAM, a choice of 32GB or 64GB of storage, and Samsung's new Exynos 850 processor. However, it is the battery that will draw the most attention. By comparison, the iPhone SE's battery is 1821mAh, not far behind the Galaxy A21s' 5000mAh.

Samsung's phones also have a charging advantage: the A21s comes with a 15W charger, which is much faster than the 5W charger that comes with the iPhone SE. Nevertheless, if you purchase Apple's fast charger, the iPhone can be charged at up to 18W, whereas Samsung's charger is included for an additional charge.

In our web-surfing battery test, the iPhone SE lasted 9 hours and 18 minutes. While that's not terrible, it lags far behind the handsets on our best phone battery life list, all of which last more than 11 hours on a charge. By comparison, the $249 Moto G Power's 5,000 mAh battery lasted more than 16 hours in our tests.

The Galaxy A21s has four cameras on the back: a 48 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, a 2 MP macro camera, and a 2 MP depth sensor. This is three more cameras than the iPhone SE has, which is expected to help the A21s take better pictures of both large and small objects, as well as provide more accurate photographic effects such as bokeh to the image.

The back also features a fingerprint sensor for unlocking the phone and other related functions. On the front of the Galaxy A21s is a 13MP camera embedded in a punch hole in the upper left corner. This can be used to unlock the phone through facial recognition, but without an additional sensor, such as the infrared projector/reader combination in Apple's Face ID system, a fingerprint scanner would be a more secure way to lock the phone.

The exterior color options are silver, black, and blue. The device also has a slot for a microSD card, which can be inserted if more than the paltry default storage space is needed.

The A21s will be available in the UK on June 19, priced at £179 for the 32GB storage version. We look forward to testing it to see how much phone you are getting for under $300.
