Samsung Galaxy S30 just leaked the benchmark that puts iPhone12 on notification

Samsung's Galaxy S30 may finally have the edge over Apple when it comes to performance. In fact, Samsung's next flagship smartphone has the potential to rival or even surpass the iPhone 12, at least when it comes to graphics.

According to benchmark results first leaked from GizChina, the 5nm Exynos 1000 chip rumored to power Samsung's Galaxy S30 is up to three times faster than the Snapdragon 865 GPU. [For example, in the GFXBench graphics benchmark, the AMD GPU in the Exynos 1000 scored 58 frames per second, compared to 20 frames per second for the Snapdragon 865 chip.

In testing for Tom's Guide's Samsung Galaxy S20 review, the Galaxy S20 scored 21 frames per second in the Aztec Ruins Vulkan test off-screen benchmark. In contrast, the iPhone 11 Pro recorded 33.8 fps in the same test. [If this leak proves to be accurate, the Galaxy S30 will outperform the iPhone 11 Pro's A13 Bionic processor. What we don't know is how much faster the iPhone 12 Pro will be with the rumored A14 Bionic chip. This 5nm processor should be a major upgrade for Apple.

Typically, Samsung uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors in the U.S. version of its phones and deploys Exynos processors in other regions. However, Qualcomm is also working on its own 5nm processor, the Snapdragon 875, which has already been leaked.

In any case, it is time for the iPhone to become a serious competitor in terms of performance, and the Galaxy S30 may be the first phone in a long time to do just that.
