In the Riverdale Season 4 finale episode, titled "Chapter 76: Jughead (Cole Sprouse) receives a letter from the University of Iowa asking him to submit a story. There he begins to write a twisted tale about a gang's revenge fantasy against Principal Honey (guest star Kerr Smith) for ruining their senior year.

This episode was not supposed to be the season 4 finale. Riverdale, like many other TV shows and movies, had to stop production due to a pandemic. Riverdale had filmed 19 of its 22 episodes.

Production on Season 4 could not be completed, meaning that a significant number of storylines were in limbo. Lead actors Skeet Ulrich (FP Jones) and Marisol Nichols (Hermione Lodge) will leave Riverdale after this season, but their departure was not explained in the finale.

Madchen Amick, who plays Alice Cooper, directed this final episode and told Entertainment Weekly, "Obviously, we'll be back on again next season. They will have to adjust some storytelling with what they had planned at the end of this season."
