Intel has announced its 10th generation Intel Core S Series (aka Comet Lake), which it calls "the world's fastest gaming processor." According to the specs and benchmarks released by the company, this processor may live up to its claims.

Clocking in at up to 5.3 GHz, the new 10th generation S-series desktop chips are designed to deliver high frame rates and low latency. The processor also features new overclocking capabilities and Intel's new Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 for maximum performance.

A release date for the new Intel 10th generation S series has not yet been confirmed, but it is expected to be available soon. The flagship CPU in this lineup, the i9-10900K, will cost $488 when it hits store shelves.

The S Series features the new 10th generation Intel Core i9-10900K CPU, which has earned the title of "world's fastest gaming processor." In addition to clock speeds of up to 5.3 GHz, the powerful 10-core, 20-thread specification delivers smooth frame rates and powerful overclocking.

Other key features include support for up to 40 PCIE 3.0 lands, 2-channel DDR4-2933 memory, and integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630.

To show just how big an upgrade the Core i9-10900K will be, Intel has released some major gaming and content creation benchmarks. When playing Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, you can expect up to a 13% increase in frames per second over the previous generation and up to a 37% improvement over a 3-year-old PC; in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, you can expect fps by 10% and up to 63% more frames per second compared to a 3-year-old machine.

Content creators can expect up to 18% faster 4K video editing compared to the previous generation and up to 35% improvement over previous generation PCs. Intel also touts that users can enjoy up to 187 frames per second while playing, streaming, and recording PUBG at once.

Intel's latest desktop CPU line includes a series of important new features, including Intel's Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0. This tool finds the best performing of the 10 cores available in the S-series and optimizes them for high performance without increasing voltage.
