The jaw-dropping iPhone12 design gives us the flagship we've always dreamed of

The iPhone 12 will be one of the most exciting phones to be released this year. And based on the rumors and information currently available, one designer has created a design mockup worthy of that excitement.

The designs you see on this page were created by Jonas Daehnert, who goes by the handle PhoneDesigner on Twitter and Instagram, where he posts these images.

The design shares many details with other rendered images we have seen based on the iPhone 12 rumors over the years. This includes flat sides (a change from the curved sides seen on the iPhone X and later iPhones) and a quad camera array on the back (including the main/ultra-wide/telephoto trio used on the current iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max) . A LiDAR depth sensor has also been added to improve the AR application experience and enhance built-in photo effects such as portrait mode.

As Daehnert mentions in the caption of his Instagram post, he attributed these renderings to YouTuber EverythingApplePro and Twitter leaker Max Weinbach's recently released leaked features and created based on CAD data. This includes design features such as a smaller 1.55mm (0.06") bezel, a smaller display notch with sharper angled curves, and a total thickness of 7.3mm (0.28"), and assuming these leaks are as reliable as thought, this phone will be a thing of beauty to look at and hold.

One controversial aspect of this design is the inclusion of a Smart Connector (a dark-colored capsule-like object on the left side of the phone). This would theoretically function like the one on the iPad Pro, charging and linking with accessories such as the miniaturized Apple Pencil stylus.

However, leaker Jon Prosser is skeptical that this will be included in the iPhone 12 and believes that it will be included in future iPhones, but only as a charging method.

Daehnert colors this concept in traditional Apple white, but we can expect a more interesting navy blue version on the iPhone 12. This was leaked earlier this year and is believed to be the color that will replace the midnight green currently featured on the iPhone 11 Pro.

Such a design cannot tell us much about what is in the phone. According to the rumors and leaks we have heard so far, the iPhone 12 will be Apple's first phone with 5G connectivity, a new CPU (presumably A14 Bionic), a 120Hz OLED display, and the Pro model will also have a LiDAR depth sensor. All of this will be available in four versions (two standard, two Pro), either 5.4", 6.1", or 6.7" depending on the model.
