The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has suffered multiple mishaps in recent months, the latest being the worst yet. And Samsung isn't going to fix it.

Several reports of cracked camera covers have been found on Samsung's community forums (1,2,3,4), (via SamMobile and TechRadar), and on Twitter. The damage varies, with some users seeing only hairline cracks, while others have dramatic holes. Users deny that they have dropped or damaged their phones in any way that would cause this.

What the reports have in common is that the cracks begin above the 100x zoom lens at the bottom of the camera module. Whether the construction or installation of the camera affected the structural integrity of the camera module is unknown, but seems like a strange coincidence.

Samsung's response to users who reached out to them is that they can fix these problems, but for a fee. One customer service representative commented that even though the broken glass is interfering with the camera's function, Samsung considers this "cosmetic damage" and is not covered under warranty.
